The Dr. Dean Ornish
Program for Reversing Heart Disease isn't just "feel good" medicine.
As early as 1970, Dr. Ornish published results from his controlled
studies that demonstrated remarkable reductions in risk factors and
cardiac symptoms.
His findings have been reported in prestigious medical journals,
including The New England Journal of Medicine, The journal of the
American Medical Association, The Lancet and The American Journal of
Cardiology.
Pittsburgh-based Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is a prime example
of the positive results generated by the Ornish program. After 12
weeks in the Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield program, participants
have achieved outcomes consistent with the research findings that
demonstrate statistically significant improvement in coronary
disease indicators among the first 269 at-risk persons the
corporation sponsored.
