Introduction |
 |
 |
|
The exhibition
probes beneath the Viking stereotype of mercenary raiders and
plunderers to reveal a people who raised livestock and worked farms,
and who were prosperous traders, townspeople and master
shipbuilders. They worked leather and fashioned implements from
iron. They crafted jewelry from silver, gold, and bronze. The
Vikings developed an innovative parliament and system of courts and
laws in Iceland. |
